He requires a medication that will not increase his heart rate and at least minimal physical exercise to keep his body functioning.
Dr. Gubad’s family is pressing to get him access to private doctors and obtain at least a prescription so they can buy him medications. However, they have been met with resistance at every turn. The authorities in Azerbaijan have denied Dr. Gubad even the most basic medical care, and his situation is fast becoming urgent, indeed. He is unable to stand without experiencing intense pain and must stay seated even during court hearings, where he works as an economist.
Dr. Gubad’s current condition is entirely reversible, but time is running out. His situation requires immediate attention from the relevant authorities. The authorities must work to expedite the process of getting Dr. Gubad the necessary medications that he needs to ease his pain. It is also essential that they permit him to receive physical therapy and engage in physical activity, which is crucial to his recovery.
Dr. Gubad Ibadoglu is a significant opposition figure in Azerbaijan, and his work has helped to promote freedom and democracy in his home country. His contribution to society is invaluable, and it would be a tragedy to lose him. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the authorities to act with urgency to save his life.
